1. What's the difference between Spb Insight channels and usual RSS channels?

You will find the difference significant. Usual RSS channels contain only headers and links to articles. Spb Insight supports channels, which provide full text article reading. You will not have to visit links and wait till your article is loaded. You have all your favorite channels content right in your pocket!

2. Can Spb Insight be used to read RSS/Atom channels?

Yes, sure! You can created and configure Spb Insight channels fed with RSS/Atom sources. To do so:

  1. In Spb Insight channel view tap New.
  2. In the channel adding dialog select the RSS/Atom feed URL option.
  3. Provide the URL of your channel. If you don't know it, try to find it on the website of this channel. Usually such websites give the URL for their RSS/Atom sources.
  4. Type the channel name or just tap the Check and Get Name button. Spb Insight will check the URL you provided and insert the channel name automatically.
  5. Tap Finish. You have it!

3. Can I store my channels on a Storage Card to save valuable space on my device?

Yes. Moreover, this is what we recommend you to do and this is the default program behavior. To view/change the content location, go to the Options dialog and select the Content tab.

4. I want to migrate from my legacy RSS reader to Spb Insight. How can import my channels?

That's another useful feature of Spb Insight. If you have an OPML file, where the channel templates are stored, you can just import them to Spb Insight.

  1. In Spb Insight channel view tap New.
  2. In the channel adding dialog select the OPML option.
  3. Provide the location of the OPML file on your Pocket PC device.
  4. Select, what particular channels you want to take from this OPML file.
  5. Tap Finish. You have it!

5. I'm a doctor. Where can I find interesting news for me?

You can use one of the following ways:

  • If you know a certain channel of your field of interest, you can just create a new channel using its URL.
  • If you just want to check, what interesting can be found to read for you, you can use the online catalog that provides thousands interesting channels. Just select the Online Catalog option when adding a new channel and you will be shown an up-to-date catalog of channels, (you should be connected to be able to download the catalog). In this catalog you will easily find a lot of channels dedicated to medicine, health and science.
  • And finally, you can use the search option when adding a new channel. Try to run search by the word "health" or "medicine". You will be shown a lot of matching channels.

6. I have expensive internet connection, how can I save traffic?

One of the ways to save traffiс on downloading channel content is turning off image downloading. To do so:

  • Open Spb Insight options. Select the Content tab.
  • Tap the Default Channel Properties... button.
  • In the next dialog open the Updating tab and select the Do not download images check box.
If you still want to be able to view images in some certain channel you may change this channel options not to obey the default channel properties and allow downloading images for it.

7. I have a proxy on my work network. Where should I input my login and password?

You don't have to input this data anywhere. Spb Insight takes the same network connections settings as Pocket Internet Explorer does. So if your Pocket Internet Explorer works, then Spb Insight will work, too.

8. What is "anonymous channel rating"?

Spb Insight Online Catalog provides you with a big and constantly growing number of channels. In order to track the most interesting and the most popular channels, Spb gathers statistics about the channels you visit. And basing on these statistics, channels get their rating. Therefore you will always be able to overview the list of the most popular channels, which improves the usability of the online channel catalog.

It's up to you to allow or not allow Spb gather statistics about the channels you chose for yourself. You can do it either when installing the application or by checking the corresponding program option.
