Spb Kiosk Explorer provides kiosk mode for Pocket Internet Explorer.

Target Audience

Spb Kiosk Explorer is an enterprise tool for Pocket PC based solutions with a Web interface. These can be either Web solutions for wireless devices or Pocket PC solutions that use Pocket Internet Explorer as an interface.

If you do not want your employees to use their Pocket PCs to surf the Web, play games, or listen to MP3s, then you need Spb Kiosk Explorer. Spb Kiosk Explorer restricts user Internet access to necessary Web sites and does not allow the user to execute any program except Pocket Internet Explorer.

How it works

Initially, you get Spb Kiosk Explorer Builder, a desktop application that allows you to build Spb Kiosk Explorer packages configured according to your needs. With Kiosk Builder you can configure custom homepage, favorites list and URL filter. You can also control which commands will be available to the user, remove address bar and context menu from Pocket Internet Explorer or to lock it in full screen mode to get additional screen estate for your web application.

Spb Kiosk Explorer prevents users from switching to other applications using hardware buttons. Many other methods of closing Pocket Internet Explorer or switching to another application have been thoroughly examined and prevented. After the device has been reset, Spb Kiosk automatically starts Pocket Internet Explorer in kiosk mode.

Spb Kiosk Explorer supports admin mode which allows you to gain full sccess to the device. This is useful if you need to fix something or to change settings after Spb Kiosk was deployed. To enter admin mode tap and hold the stylus for 10 seconds anywhere on the screen and then enter your secret unlock code (specified in Kiosk Builder). You can also access Logon screen from Kiosk Start menu (unless it is disabled or hidden).

Customization

In the Spb Kiosk Explorer Builder, you can customize the following options before generating a new kiosk package:

• Unlock code
• Initial Web page (a page the explorer always starts with and defaults to)
• Favorites list for Pocket Internet Explorer
• URL Filter options
• Which menu commands are available to the user
• Full screen mode
• Whether to show the address bar or not
• Whether to disable context menu or not
• Weather to disable taskbar or not
• Advanced options (disable ActiveSync connectivity, disable phone, disable autorun from meory card etc.)

You can build a deployment package with customized options once and deploy it to many devices.

License

You can download the Spb Kiosk Explorer builder - a desktop application that generates kiosk packages. After registering your version, you can create different packages with different settings. Spb Kiosk Explorer price includes 100 runtime Pocket PC licenses. So you can install built kiosk runtime to 100 Pocket PC devices.

With an unregistered version of Spb Kiosk Explorer Builder you can only generate kiosk packages with built-in time restriction. These packages provide kiosk mode on a device for 15 days.
