Spb Kiosk Terminal provides kiosk mode for the Terminal Service Client.
Target Audience
Spb Kiosk Terminal is a thin client for your Pocket PC
that works in kiosk mode. There are many situations when a
thin client is the cheapest and the most suitable solution. For
example take a look at the following case study: Airport Taxi Dispatch System
Spb Kiosk Terminal will help you to ensure that your users work only with
the Terminal Service Client and do not have access to other Pocket PC
features and options. It increases productivity and saves money on technical support.
How it works
Initially, you get Spb Kiosk Terminal Builder, a desktop application
that allows you to build Spb Kiosk Terminal packages configured according to your needs.
You can configure full screen mode and autoconnect for Terminal Services Client and specify
secret unlock code for your devices.
Spb Kiosk Terminal prevents users from switching to other applications
by using hardware buttons. Many other methods of closing Terminal Services Client or switching
to other applications have been thoroughly examined and prevented. After the device has been reset,
Spb Kiosk automatically starts Terminal Service Client in kiosk mode.
Spb Kiosk Terminal enables Terminal Services Client to work in full screen mode.
In this mode Terminal Services Client uses all screen estate to display remote desktop,
so not a single pixel on your device is wasted.
Spb Kiosk Terminal supports admin mode which allows you to gain full access to the device.
This is useful if you need to fix something or to change settings after Spb Kiosk was deployed.
To enter admin mode tap and hold the stylus for 10 seconds anywhere on the screen
and then enter your secret unlock code (specified in Kiosk Builder). You can also access
Logon screen from Kiosk Start menu (unless it is disabled or hidden).
Auto-Connect
With Spb Kiosk Terminal it is possible to automatically connect to Terminal Server.
After soft reset Spb Kiosk will establish Internet connection or wait till it is enabled by the user.
Then it will connect to server and login using credentials specified by you in Kiosk Builder.
Together with kiosk mode this feature dramatically simplifies system support. A
Pocket PC with Spb Kiosk Terminal installed is a system that is
always connected to the Terminal Server. Such a system is much
simpler for support and maintenance than a normal Pocket PC with
Terminal Service Client.
Customization
In Spb Kiosk Terminal Builder you can customize the following
options before generating a new kiosk package:
Unlock code
Full screen mode
Whether to perform auto-connect or not
Terminal server name, login and password for auto-connect.
You can build a deployment package with customized options once and deploy
it to many devices.
